
Chyše Chateau is situated 35 km east of the town Karlovy Vary. Its origins date from about the year 1169, Nevertheless, at the time a fortified settlement was on that site, which was rebuilt as a Gothic castle in the 13th century. Then Chyše Castle was transformed into a Renaissance chateau in 1578, and another - that time a Baroque-style reconstruction - was completed in the year 1708. The chateau then obtained its present form and appeareance in the period 1856 - 1858 as a result of a neo-Gothic building conversion. The Chateau has been the property of the Lažansky family since 1766. In 1917, worldfamous Czech writer Karel Čapek worked at Chyše as a home tutor. the chatueau´s underground areas house unique and ellpreserved Gothic cellars with loopholes. the chateau is surrounded by a romantic park. The chateau premises also comprise a manorial brewery that was built in the years 1839 - 1841. Nevertheless, brewing in Chyše has a long tradition that started as early as in 1580. In the year 2006 was the production of high quality chateau beer restored after 74 years. in the historical interior of the brewery you will be welcomed in a stylish restaurant and a traditional beer house.
