We have a little bit (OK, a lot) ofcelebrity fragrance fatigue, but this is an enitirely different thing. Iggy Pop, wearing gold sequined pants, is the face of Paco Rabanne‘s new fragrances, WWD is reporting. The scents, called Black XS L’Excès, will have versions for men and women and debut in France in January. A commercial was shot by Jonas Ackerlund, who’s been busy lately with fashion-y type jobs (seeHarper’s Bazaar UK).
Iggy has a history with the fashion industry. He’s done projects with Versace, John Varvatos, and most recently with Barneys back in 2010. He told the Telegraph in an interview back in the summer of 2010: “I keep an eye on fashion. Three or four times a year I will go through all the magazines and research online and go, ‘OK this is what Alexander McQueen thought about this’, or ‘What’s going on with Hedi Slimane?’ and ‘OK this is the guy doing the glittery shit at Balmain.’ I know these things.” And we love him for it.
Most recently, Carine Roitfeld (who’s been very sanguine when it’s been suggested that Iggy Pop is her doppelganger) mentioned (in an interview with the Financial Times) that she wanted to use him for that Barneys campaign that came out this past fall, but unfortunately nothing ever came of it.
So we say to the fashion and beauty industry: more Iggy Pop, please, and less pop princesses. Thanks.
Kate Moss’ 13-Year-Old Half Sister Makes Her Modeling Debut–Peep Her First Shoot Here

Remember way back in July when Kate Moss got married? Well, amidst all the glamorous and gorgeous guests, one girl stood out in the crowd of bridesmaids. Kate’s half sister Charlotte (who goes by the name Lottie), drew a lot of attention with her seriously ethereal good looks. There was a lot of speculation about her future as a model, and it looks like she’s on her way.
Fashion Copious dug up some pictures (via fashionising) that seem to be the 13-year-old’s first real modeling spread. They were shot by Andrea Carter-Bowman, and they’re beautiful and age-appropriate (though she looks much older than 13, for sure). It’s unclear where these pictures will be published, but one thing seems certain…we’ll be seeing more of Lottie Moss.

Stylestalker takes on Hollywood glamour
There are themes in Stylestalker's latest look book that should probably be left by the wayside for a while. Like exposed suspenders and tiny denim cutoffs worn with chunky boots, the kind of trash-glam looks that have had more than a good run in the past few seasons. But these elements are so subtle in this series of shots that they more than take backseat to a newfound sophistication. Instead there's a welcome rush of soft and dreamy references like pleats and pastel colours and floating bell sleeves.
The collection, modelled by Alex Spencer, takes the title Young Hollywood, an apt name for the collision of old-world glamour and modern playfulness that yields some great options for a spring 2012 wardrobe.
They're not flip flops, but I suspect that Tom Ford would still hate this look. And he would't be the only one: somewhere along the line men's shorts have become something of a divisive issue - there's a camp of people who utterly deride their very existence, who will argue until they're blue in the face that men simply should not wear shorts. I'm certainly not one of them. As the mercury heads north, so do the hems of my trousers until they eventually peak, along with summer, somewhere along my thighs.
How then to dress shorts up as the temperature swells? By pairing them with a summer blazer and preferably a shirt. While for most that will mean something in a cotton, you can always opt for something in a linen and revel in the cloth's crumpled appeal.

This chap gets it right. His hair perfectly groomed, his cotton blazer making a statement through its drip dye finish, and the nero collar of his shirt rounding it all out. The sandals, as it is with flip flops, are naturally optional.

Dior: Galliano is gone, so is the drama
It didn't take long for the aftershock of John Galliano's departure from Dior to be felt. In fact, those waves have rippled their way through the fashion house's resort 2012 collection in the form of a offering that entirely lacks the vintage drama Galliano used to bring to the brand. Even at first glance, it's clear that Galliano's influence no longer forms the base matter of the concept or the clothing.
This, of course, raises two possibilities. The first is that Dior is passing through a purgatorial phase, potentially even an identity crisis, and without a Creative Director at the helm they're effectively in a holding pattern. The other possibility, and one that feeds into the multitude of theories that surround Galliano's hasty sacking, is that this is where the fashion house's owners had wanted to take the aesthetic anyway: to something more commercial, something less expressive. If that were the case, then the resort 2012 collection is not an expression of a holding pattern, but a glimpse into the House of Dior's future.
but a glimpse into the House of Dior's future.
What the design house's team have come up with is both pretty and wearable; from drop-waisted 1920s style dresses and pleated skirts to more exotic Grecian gowns and kaftans. But it's a mildly eclectic mix, far from the thematic cohesion Galliano used to orchestrate into each collection. Where it goes from there? That depends largely on who will take up Galliano's crown and what design brief they're given.
You can view more of the Christian Dior resort 2012 collection by clicking on the thumbnails and browsing through the photos.
Though 2011 will see us move still further from the economic woes of recent history, don't expect a massive change in the tangent of fashion: the major excesses of the last decade are gone, and 2011 will see us, rightfully, continue on with a drive of subtle consumption mixed with obvious quality. 2011 fashion trends will accomodate the fact that we'll be buying less but spending more. That means less bland, and more quality. Fewer indulgences, but better statement pieces.
And what will those statements pieces and trends for 2011 be? Read on to find out.
And don't forget: if you want to keep up to date with all the 2011 fashion trends be sure to
